John is a Legal Practitioner and the youngest Certified Insolvency Practitioner in Malawi. His main area of focus is Corporate Law, Business Restructuring and Insolvency. He is our lead advisor on Government Contracting. He sits on the Adhoc Review Committee of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority which deals deals with adjudication of matters flowing out of Government Contracting.

 He graduated from the University of Malawi with a Bachelor of Laws [Hons] degree in 2019 and was admitted to practice the law in the same year. Post law school, John obtained a Certificate in Corporate Finance and a Certificate in Mergers and Acquisitions. He is a member of Insol International, IR Global, MergersClub and the Research and Publications Committee of the Malawi Law Society.

Within his field, he has advised and executed instructions relating to Mergers and Acquisitions generally, Legal Due Diligence, taking and lending security in form of mortgages, charges, securities, security interest, etc.), as well as restructuring and winding-up.

In addition, John has contributed to various publications such as Resolving Insolvency, Doing Business, Corporate Debt Restructuring as well as Insolvency Proceedings in Malawi published by the World Bank Group, Insol International, and Alliot Global Alliance.

In terms of litigation, John has successfully argued before the High Court and Supreme Court of Malawi in matters relating to insolvency, public and administrative law, and other assorted matters.

Representing FDH Bank Plc in the winding-up of another company. The subject matter is estimated at more than MK 750 510 406.85

Representing Cane Products Limited against a claim for MK 1 465 519 233.07 arising out of winding-up  proceedings

Contributing towards the Doing Business 2021 report on Insolvency in Malawi under the

World Bank Doing Business GuideResolving Insolvency.

Carrying out legal due diligence exercise on a group of companies to facilitate a USD30 000 000.00 equity finance by Export Development Fund Limited to Press Agriculture Limited.

Conducting a legal due diligence exercise on several companies to facilitate a possible merger.

Advising and representing MBL Holdings Limited and all its group of companies in various land and contractual matters worth over MK10 000 000 000.00

Advising and representing ETG in matter involving incorporation of companies, transfer of shares, obtaining tax clearance certificates and land matters.

Representing and defending PwC in a claim for USD200, 000.00 against a commercial bank.
